After living in Connecticut for 2 years, Katie moved back to Indiana to be closer to Isaac and her family in October 2013. Her best friend, Brooke, was getting married in March 2014 so the two of them planned a wedding weekend soon after Katie had moved back.
The day of the proposal, Katie left around 10 AM to head to Indianapolis to spend the day with Brooke. Before she left, Katie told Isaac that he was in charge of making dinner. While in Indy, Katie and Brooke grabbed lunch, checked out Brooke’s wedding venue, went to the bridal salon to see her wedding dress, and ended the day by searching for the perfect pair of wedding shoes. On her way home, Katie called Isaac and told him that she would be home in about an hour. He said okay.
When Katie got home and to the door, there was a note with a rose taped to it. She opened the door to a candlelit room and Isaac standing at the door. She assumed that this was a romantic dinner that Isaac had planned since they had been apart. She told Isaac all about her day with Brooke and he patiently sat there and listened to her ramble.
Isaac started to tell Katie about his day. He had driven to Winamac (Katie’s hometown) to talk to her dad. He said that he wanted to talk to her dad because he knew that asking him for permission was important to her. He said a few romantic things about the two of them being together and then asked her to marry him. Behind teary eyes, Katie said yes!
